Although we love furry friends, we are unable to accommodate pets at this time. Hunky Hound Handlers Canine Lodge & Ranch is located less than 10 minutes away for guests who'd like their dogs to enjoy a weekend getaway too!

Nestled on the third floor accessible only by  a private staircase (no elevator), the Clemens Suite offers views of the front and rear gardens. The private stairway leads up two rooms with an adjoining bath.

The Victorian Suite

A lovely escape located on the third floor, this spacious suite has an antique king sized bed and Victorian furnishings throughout. Relax in front of the gas burning fireplace in two large chairs next to a window with a view of the side yard.  Gaze at the stars through the skylight while you soak the stress away in the two-person soaking tub; please note this is no longer a jacuzzi.



This romantic suite is a favorite for honeymooners and anyone else looking for a romantic getaway or a restful retreat.

The English Garden Suite

Located at the far end of the second floor, the English Garden Suite is spacious, bright and private. It features a king size bed, lovely original hardwood floors, an antique armoire and a comfortable sitting area. This suite has our largest bath, with a two-person whirlpool tub and separate shower room/water closet.

The Country French Suite

The Country French Suite is an elegant escape on the third floor with a King size bed. The suite has three large windows that overlook the rear grounds and garden. Relax in the sitting area or at the lovely writing desk. The large, bright cedar-lined bath has a skylight and a large, luxurious oversize two-person soaking tub with shower.

The Spofford Suite

The original master bedroom of the estate, the luxurious Spofford Suite feels like a step back in time. This 2nd floor room has an elegant King four poster bed overlooking a spacious sitting area in front of a large mantled wood burning fireplace, for a cozy romantic getaway. A private balcony offers a sitting area with a panoramic view of the grounds and spectacular sunsets (available seasonally). The private bath has a tiled shower and marble vanity.

 

You’ll understand why this regal, spacious suite is a guest favorite.

The Clemens Suite

Nestled on the third floor, the Clemens Suite spans the depth of the house and offers views of the front and rear gardens. A private stairway* from the second floor leads up to a front room with a King sleigh bed, reading chairs, and eclectic fireplace and is decorated in soothing blue tones. The back half of the suite offers sitting area with a view of the Church of the Transfiguration, which has three Tiffany stained glass windows dedicated to Olivia Clemens, Mark Twain’s wife.

*As the former servant’s quarters, this space is our most private room; guests with mobility concerns may find the staircase leading up to it is steeper than most, in keeping with early 19th century construction. There is not an elevator.

The Morgan Suite

For a romantic getaway, this 2nd floor suite has a queen bed, a cozy sitting area and a large whirlpool tub with shower. A wooden Dutch door leads out to a large private balcony that offers a beautiful view of the side lawn and wooded grounds.

La Chambre Room

This charming room on the 2nd floor has an antique French Queen bed and two silk arm chairs with a view of the rear gardens, which is perfect if you are looking for a romantic getaway. The large, bright bath has a vintage claw foot tub and shower. Best for guests who are comfortable with a tub / shower combination that requires stepping up and into.

Audubon Room

This wonderfully intimate dormer room located on the third floor has a comfortable queen sized bed, a sloped ceiling and a reading chair. The large windows overlook the rear yard. Relax and enjoy the soothing blue tones, reminiscent of a robin’s egg, and the lovely exposed brick. Best for solo travelers.
